The Buffalo Public School System had an enormous task at hand for Montante Solar: install rooftop arrays at 19 school buildings, for a 3MW project generating over 3,400,000kWh of electricity total for schools throughout the district. It is the largest rooftop solar project completed for a public school district in NYS, and Montante Solar is proud of our role in this groundbreaking project. The energy offset from these arrays prevents 1,700 metric tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere, helping to create a healthier environment for the future.

Project Overview

The Buffalo Public School District wanted to go green while saving on total energy costs, but it also wanted to create additional educational opportunities for the students they serve.

Montante Solar allowed them to enter into a Power Purchase Agreement, meaning we own and maintain the systems and BPS purchases the power they generate. This created substantial value and savings upfront while still saving significantly on ongoing energy costs. They now run bi-annual student tours of the rooftop arrays, giving students the opportunity to learn the details of how solar power is generated, stored and distributed.
